Cadence Boyce is a classical mezzo-soprano, vocal improviser, composer, and digital artist based in central Massachusetts.
She loves to make impressive sounds and expressive characters with her voice while being mindful of vocal health. Her composing process has always been voice-first, so exploring musical improvisation and new vocal works in college opened up many new worlds of ideas for her.
Cadence graduated from Bennington College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in May 2025. She is in between projects right now, so she is creating online content, singing in church choir, learning keyboard and electric bass, and giving volunteer vocal coaching to children in her local community.
My voice is dark and heavy with a wide vibrato, with an infusion of the naive sweetness inherited from my high pitched speaking voice. I can do clear straight toned legato in music written to support that, or brief impressions of a contralto.
My most recent major project was Imagined Strife: Opera & art songs to disassociate to, my Advanced Work in Music for my BA in Music (secondary subject Computer Science) at Bennington College. It’s a classical and post-genre vocal recital with very overt queer and neurodivergent sensibilities, with multimedia visuals made by me. See the digital program here.
